Ronnie Turner trained as an acupuncturist in Australia in the 1970s.
Thirty years ago it wasn’t a fashionable treatment in Ireland. But Ronnie’s success with a wide range of ailments led to a booming practice in Stillorgan, south county Dublin.
The Clinic was made even more well-known when Ronnie appeared a few times on the Late Late Show to talk about Acupuncture and the magic staple in the ear which cured people of the desire to smoke.
Gay Byrne visited the Clinic, as did many other celebrities at the time. Ronnie was the official acupuncturist to Shamrock Rovers for a number of years and treated all the big names, Johnny Giles, Paddy Mulligan, Ray Treacy, Eamon Dunphy.
Showbiz people such as Joe Lynch, Twink, “Fr Ted”, Paddy Cole and many others were regular attenders.
But the real stars of the Clinic were the patients cured of a variety of illnesses such as bad back, fatigue, pain syndromes of various types, such as migraine etc.
